WE HAVE VIDEOS! CLICK HERE TO SEE SOME FUNNY MOVIES FROM THE WEEK!
Saturday, Day 7
The week as come to an end. 24 servants, 5 vans, 7 days, 1500 miles, 28 gallons of paint, 12 tubes of caulk, 26 hours of traveling, 1 trip to the emergency room, one traffic stop, count less roller coaster rides, endless jokes by PG, tons of laughs, numerous friends built and strengthen, and unforgettable memories. All while serving as the hands and feet of Christ. We thank you for your prayers during this week and hope you enjoy the pictures and videos of our adventure.
Friday, Day 6
What an exciting morning we had. Part of the group got up extra early, headed over to Miss Polly's and finished up the wood shed, touch up paint, and roof repair. The rest of the group packed and cleaned up back at Hungry Mother Lutheran Retreat Center. Then everyone came out to Miss Polly's as we presented her with two new rocking chairs for her porch. She was very appreciative of all we had done for her! We then took off towards Cincinnati where we enjoyed a wonderful dinner, fireworks, and HOT showers. Tomorrow we will be going to King's Island and then back home. See you all soon. Here are the pictures of our finished projects.
Thursday, Day 5
Today was a very busy and productive day. The whole group was out at Miss Polly's all day long. We are getting to know the locals at Francis Brother's Hardware quite well after all the visits for supplies; I think Carol was there three times today. The wood shed is coming together and it might be the most sturdy structure in the county. Tonight Project Crossroads had all four church groups they are facilitating gather together to share their experiences from the week. After returning to Camp for one last night, we shared a time of Bible study and had some mini pre-4th of July fun. Tomorrow will bring a short morning of roof patching, touch up painting, add a roof to the wood shed, and put the screen door back on. At the end of the morning, we will give Miss Polly a new pair of rocking chairs for her front porch and then head off to Cincinnati for FIREWORKS. Here are today's pictures. Enjoy seeing our progress from the week.
Wednesday, Day 4
We are half-way through the week and our projects are really looking good. This morning, Ted and Carol finished up at Miss Connie's house and it looks GREAT. The neighbor even commented on how impressed he was with our work. The majority of the day the whole group got to be together working at Miss Polly's farm house. We just about finished priming the house and even started on a final coat of paint in some places. Our big goal is to finish the painting tomorrow. We also started on a little wood shed she needs by digging holes, mixing concrete and setting posts. Sorry our videos haven't been working. Hopefully they will be soon. But here are the photos we got today.
Tuesday, Day 3
Today we continued with our projects. At Miss Connie's the group painted the front porch, finished weeding and adding mulch to the flower beds, and did some concrete work to the sidewalk. Out at Miss Polly's, the group finished scraping, replaced some rotted siding and started priming the house. The day was capped off with a trip to the ER. Don't worry, no cut off fingers or anything. We needed to treat a rash and all is well now. We miss you all and thank you for your prayers. We hope you enjoy our pictures.
Monday, Day 2
Work on our residents' homes began today. After assessing each job site and purchasing the necessary materials and tools to begin work, we split into two teams and got busy serving our residents. Miss Polly needs the roof fixed on her porch, the entire house scraped and painted, and other odds and ends fix-it projects around her old farm home. Miss Connie mainly needs her windows fixed along with a few other fix-it tasks. We got a good start on these jobs today, but have our work cut out for us this week (praise the Lord!). This evening, after moving into the bunk house, we learned of the prayer partners back at St. Johns who are lifting us up in prayer throughout this week. We are grateful for the goodie-bags that brought us smiles this evening, and are deeply encouraged by your faithful prayer. Check out the pictures from today.
Sunday, Day 1
Our first day started quite early, with a departure from St. John's by 6:00am. The following 15 hours were spent cuddled up with tools, baggage, pillows, candy, cd's, coolers and of course, one another. By the end of the day, we were laughing together and sharing 'inside jokes' from our long trip, which actually went farily quickly. Along the way, we found an awesome little side-trip: a natural cave-like tunnel, accessible only by a tiny one-lane path. Check out the pictures to share this experience! We finally arrived at our beautiful destination and crammed into two small cabins for a cozy night's sleep.
